Frequently asked questions

  • There’s a lot that goes into choosing a wedding photographer. Things to think about:

What is the editing style you’re going for? Do you want Light and Airy? Dark and Moody? Truer to life? If you want light and etherial, make sure that your not choosing someone whose editing style does not match that

What does that photographer value? Are they rockstars at fancy posing? Do they stay back a little and prefer a more candid/photojournalistic approach? Are they comfortable with Lighting or do they prefer Natural Light? Have an idea going on what your values are and find someone who matches in their values.

Do you want printed products and does that photographer provide that? It’s not an easy thing to buckle down, pick which photos you want to get printed, and figure out where to go to get things printed. A full service photography service will do that work for you and our upper packages are designed to make sure that we can take that off your plate.

Do you vibe with this person? You’re going to spend most of your wedding day with them. You should at least like them!

  • You can expect me to show up really excited to spend the day with you! Every wedding I attend, I’m always energized by the joy and excitement!

I’m very laid back and will blend in with your friends and family, just observing and documenting as the day goes along. But at the same time, I’m vey good at keeping things flowing and on time and I’m not shy about herding people where they need to be. I thrive on pressure and as a former D1 collegiate captain, I use that characteristic when it’s called for.

But mostly, I’m there to help keep you calm and make sure you have as stress-free a day as possible.

  • There are a lot of benefits to having a Second Shooter at your wedding. Not only will you receive just more photos in the end, but you also get:

    • Different angles of events throughout the day (*if you are considering a First Look, the only way to get BOTH of your initial reactions is to have a Second Shooter there).

    • A dedicated person to assist your Lead Photographer with more complicate/special lighting scenarios.

    • Someone else who can also keep things on time and help with Family Formals.

  • For a more in depth view at what packages we offer, download our Inquiry Guide!

  • Absolutely! We customize packages for couples all the time. We don’t require you to choose a package until your Viewing Appointment where you will see all of your photos and from there you can decide what types of products you are interested in. Should none of our packages match what you’re looking for, you can choose what you’d like, I plug and chug in my computer and let you know what that would come to with the discounts of our labs applied.

  • All of our Wedding Packages include Engagement Sessions! We plan these for a location that we come up with together and usually last between 60-90min.

All of our packages also come with 8 hours of coverage on your wedding day. If you would like additional hours added (including rehearsal dinners), additional hours can be added on for $150/hr.

  • You can expect at least 500 images and up to roughly 1,200 (if you have a second shooter). After that, I find it to be a disservice to my couples to provide many more than that. Especially if you are looking to design an album, having more than 1,000 photos to go through can be very overwhelming. So we try to skirt that line and keep your gallery fulfilling but manageable.

  • Yes!

It’s important to print your photos for several reasons:

    • This is your legacy. These are the images future generations who know and love you will want to look at… my children have looked at our wedding album many times. But there hasn’t been a single time where I’ve pulled up the digital folder to show them any photos from that day.

    • Having physical prints in your home is WAY more impactful than looking at them on your phone/computer. And it takes NO effort to look at them when they’re used as decorations, rather than having to find your FB album or get the USB out.

    • HARDDRIVES FAIL (Please please backup your images!).

So… we offer archival-quality prints and albums that are made to last way longer than even you! :D

  • We guarantee to have all of your photos edited no later than 4 weeks after your wedding! It’s then that we’ll schedule a meeting for you to view them and choose a package.

Once you’ve chosen a package, if that package has printed products it can take between 1 (prints) - 8 (albums) weeks for us to receive your products, inspect them and get them to you.

  • All of our clients receive the Hi-Res digital files on a branded Crystal USB that is housed in a Suede-lined Fabric Box.

We also provide all of our couples with an online gallery with Web-sized files that they are able to share with their friends and family (these images are able to be printed up to an 8x10).

  • Yes and no. So, when you receive your photos on your USB, you will also have a Print Release on there, which gives you limited copyright.

We retain full copyright (so you are not able to make money off of your photos - which - I’m not even sure how/why you would want to do that, but there you go), but you are able to print your photos wherever/however you’d like and you are able to post them online (we love getting tagged!).

  • I sure do! I provide all of the vendors at your wedding with photos. So if they’re asking you about this, you can put them at ease!

  • Naw.

Part of our service to massage your images to make them the best they can be.

Troegs doesn’t give you their hops, barley and yeast and say “Have at it. Hope it comes out like you’re wanting i to!”. They give you their finished product.

And that’s what we do as well. We edit each and every photo we deem worthy of your album, separately to make sure every photo gets the attention it deserves.

Most of our clients wouldn’t have the software/knowledge of what to do with an NEF file… and trust me, you probably don’t want EVERY photo (see below).

  • Over my 7 years as a wedding photographer, I’ve shot about 50 weddings.

  • My shooting style can be described as photojournalistic, candid or documentary. Yes, I still know how to pose and do formal shots. But the majority of your day, I’m mostly hands off. I’m not going around asking your family and friends - “oh, can you do that again? But this time, can you look this way when you cry?”. I’m catching real things as they happen.

My editing style can be characterized as more True-to-Life. I go for the vibrant but clean look.

  • Of course! If there are things you are looking to make sure are captured or images that inspire you that you’d like to try to re-create, let us know!

  • I believe the best photos are the ones that are more on the authentic side. So when I pose my couples, I usually start with a more relaxed guidance/suggestion (ie. “walk up behind her, give her a hug and whisper your favorite childhood cartoon into her ear”). Once I’ve got you laughing/smiling, that’s the gold right there. Then once you’re relaxed I may make some small adjustments while we keep things relaxed and fun!

  • Fully insured! We have both liability/event coverage as well as equipment coverage.

  • I shoot Nikon mirrorless cameras with Nikon lenses (both primes and zooms).

    • Nikon Z8 and Z6ii

    • Nikon 70-200 f/2.8, 135 f/1.8, 35 f/1.8, 20 f/1.8 and 105 f/2.8

I also use the Godox Lighting system for my on and off-camera flash.

    • 2 Godox ad200pros

    • 1 Godox ad400

    • 2 Godo V1s

.. then a mix of fun video lights for something cool and different!

  • Always.

I have 2 camera bodies, multiple lenses at different lengths to have every length covered twice and then multiples of all my lights.

    Backs on Backs on Backups

  • I triple backup my photos:

    • Once on your online gallery

    • Once on my External Harddrive

    • Once on my RAID system

I have all of my files indefinitely in theory, but I only guarantee them for 3 years (So make sure you back them up too!).
