About James

Like Erin, I have always been drawn to the arts. My experience with cameras started way back in high school when I quickly fell in love with A/V club. By my senior year, I was president of the club and was producing a student-run news show for the town’s local access TV station.

From there, I went to college at UMass Lowell where I studied music. I’ve been a guitar player for many years, and I have a particular love for acoustic guitars. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience playing in a touring band and will always keep music a central part of who I am. You’ll find me at concerts whenever I can manage to get to them!

While my original experience with cameras was in the world of video production, my heart found its way back to cameras about 6 years ago when I bought my first DSLR. Since then, I’ve also fallen in love with still photography. Photography has the power to not only exist as beautiful fine art, but to capture unique moments and emotions that mean something special to us and our loved ones.

Experiencing nature is how I relax. If I’m not tagging along with Erin and fam on a national park trip, I might be found exploring local trails in the woods, or looking for the perfect sunset spot, carrying a tripod and hoping for a beautiful landscape photo opportunity. I hope to visit Iceland soon, but I have a long list of places I would love to see.

Photography has taught me to slow down and notice the world around me. There are a lot of small things to appreciate all around us every day. We live in a world so full of distraction and overstimulation. It’s too easy to keep our eyes pointed at our feet or our phone. It’s too easy to be lost in thought and miss the small moments. Whether that’s the way a beam of light illuminates a tree, or catching the way an engaged couple looks at one another during one of our photoshoots, I want to immortalize that. I couldn’t be happier about collaborating with my sister Erin, because I know that we both view our work as an opportunity to be storytellers. I hope you’ll consider giving us the opportunity to tell yours!
